David Wu

Co-Founder and Managing Partner

David Wu co-founded the Fund in July 2009.  Previously, Mr. Wu worked at Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. from October, 1996.  Until March 2009, Mr. Wu was the Head of non-mortgage ABS principal investments group at Merrill Lynch.  Mr. Wu oversaw the sourcing, evaluation, execution and monitoring of over $2 billion of aggregate investments in both security and whole loan form.  Mr. Wu was also a portfolio manager for ML Bank USA’s $60 billion ABS investment portfolio at that time.  Prior to that, Mr. Wu was a Co-Head of Merrill Lynch’s Global Structured Finance Analytics Group and led global analytical efforts on Structured Finance Products, including mortgage, auto, credit card, student loans and other esoteric assets.  In that capacity, Mr. Wu led the modeling, asset valuation, market pricing and risk calculation process of over $15 billion of investments.  Earlier during his career at Merrill Lynch, Mr. Wu was a senior structuring staff and a senior software programmer specializing in modeling MBS, ABS and CMBS transactions. Mr. Wu started his career as a senior software programmer at Sungard Capital Markets, Inc. Mr. Wu received an M.S. in Financial Engineering from Columbia University and a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics from Yale University.  Mr. Wu is a CFA Charter-holder.


Fred Wang

Co-Founder and Partner

Fred Wang co-founded the Fund in July 2009.  Previously, Mr. Wang worked at Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. from September 2006 and was most recently a senior portfolio manager in its non-mortgage ABS principal investments group.  While at Merrill Lynch, Mr. Wang focused on investing in the consumer and commercial ABS sectors as well as structuring and executing asset based lending transactions.  Prior to Merrill Lynch, Mr. Wang worked at Goldman Sachs from 2000 to 2006 in the Investment Management Division and more recently in the Special Situations Group, the principal investing arm within the Fixed Income Division.  There, Mr. Wang specialized in purchasing distressed pools of consumer, commercial and commercial real estate loans and also helped lead an initiative to build out a distressed ABS investing platform.  While in Goldman Sachs’ Investment Management Division, Mr. Wang focused on risk analytics and performance analysis for all pooled investment vehicles.  Prior to Goldman Sachs, Mr. Wang worked at Deutsche Bank and Banker’s Trust from 1998 to 2000.  Mr. Wang started his career in consulting at PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Wang received a B.S. in Operations Research from Columbia University.


Christian Mainelli

Managing Director

Christian Mainelli joined the Fund in January 2010.  Previously, Mr. Mainelli worked at Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. from July 1998.  In 2003, Mr. Mainelli worked in the non-mortgage ABS principal investment group as a portfolio manager and trader.  From 2003 to 2009, Mr. Mainelli managed the investment portfolio which at its peak was approximately $5 billion in assets. As part of his responsibilities, he managed the investment process from the initial offering, valuation, negotiation of price and agreements, development of hedging strategies, to trade execution. Prior to moving into the non-mortgage ABS principal investments group, Mr. Mainelli worked in the Credit Derivatives group primarily focusing on CDOs backed by high yield bank debt and bonds.  He assisted in the structuring, marketing and syndication of 12 CDOs totaling over $5 billion and the execution of over $3 billion in secondary CDO trades.   Prior to Merrill Lynch, Mr. Mainelli worked in the engineering field from 1992 to 1998.  Mr. Mainelli received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Rhode Island, an M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Rutgers University and an MBA from Fordham University.  Mr. Mainelli is a CFA charterholder.
